2003

In the summer of 2003 I had trouble finding a job. Until then I occupied myself with several projects, including several mashup tracks I made for my friends, sending them out of state on mix CDs. And what did I call the artist in the track list? "Unemployed Waif," a reference to a line in the Generation X comedy Reality Bites (1994).
The tracks are as follows:
1) Trebek's Justifiable Homicide
2) Rape At The Opera
For the most part no one knew I had made them. The first track was created with the intermission music featured in Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1974) and clips from various "Celebrity Jeopardy" sketches on SNL.
The second is a combination of a single SNL sketch featuring Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and Pierce Brosnan mixed with Tom Waits's instrumental "Fawn", a track off of his 2000 album, Alice.
They're strange but not as strange as some of the other experiments that came out of the project that summer. For the most part they were harmless fun.
