In the back pages of Tom Dardis's biography on Buster Keaton (The Man Who Wouldn't Lie Down) there is an appendix that, for no apparent reason, is nothing but a dadist script called El Paseo De Buster Keaton. It was written by the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca in 1928 and wasn't published until after his death. My friends and I joked that perhaps he never meant to have it published- its just that absurd.
I decided to adapt the script into a silent film as an experiment for my friends. Could we get together and make a film, especially one that was based on something that only we found funny? The result is Buster Keaton Takes A Walk, which was made for hardly any money, many family favors and a crew doubling as its cast.
