alex takes its basis from Gaspar Noé's 2002 film Irréversible in which a woman unknowingly walks to her destruction in an underpass.
What is depicted in the loop is her final, endless descent down a staircase to this event. She remains suspended in this action as if she is permanently trapped in her last innocent (and almost banal) moments before going underground.
During its play in the installation alex is accompanied by the sound of the woman's footsteps during the beginning of her descent, fading then coming back every nine minutes.
