bunkbeds consists of a simple, stable image playing out in linear (although manipulated) time. Its subject is the site of a sexual assault, pulled out of domesticity and into nature before being destroyed. It slowly goes up in flames, warping, falling apart and eventually collapsing altogether.
bunkbeds is an attempt at destroying a subject's personal, unseen history. A structure's transition from an imposing memory to dust could be viewed as mundane, cathartic or nauseating to the viewer and is constructed to embody all of these things. The main contrast of the piece is how destruction of the subject expands visually outward while the sound it produces is sucked inward and reversed.
Elements of the soundtrack include various sounds of destruction and high frequencies. Others are taken from "Under Your Command" by Stina Nordenstam (available for purchase here) and "Elysium" by Portishead (available for purchase here).
